Zorba Paster, M.D. So if you could select all the characteristics you would want in your personal doctor, you would probably use descriptions like wise, compassionate, worldly, humorous, updated on both medical and holistic practices and, oh yeah, the personal doctor to your holiness – the Dali Lama. We had a chance to interview Dr. Paster at the Sun Valley Wellness Expo. His insight on the aging body will be very important to our film about aging women. Dr. Paster talked at great lengths about other aspects that affect the aging process subjects like compassion, stress hormones, optimism as well as overall holistic health. You have to imagine that if Dr. Paster was selected to care for the Dali Lama when he travels to the west, you can bet he’s got his finger on the pulse of what is best for the aging body. Paster has written The Longevity Code: Your Prescription for a Longer, Sweeter Life with Susan Meltsner. He writes of “the long sweet life, “ and states that achieving longevity is much more complex than merely maintaining a healthy diet and exercise. Dr. Zorba is deeply involved in Tibetan causes since 1968. In June 2008, together with Dr. Richard Chaissonet, he participated to help improving a program of the Delek Hospital supported by Johns Hopkins University and aiming to control tuberculosis within the Tibetan diaspora. He is a practicing family physician at the Dean Medical Center near Madison, WI. Additionally, he is a professor of Family Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health where he teaches medical residents. Dr. Paster has a regular radio show on Wisconsin Public Radio’s statewide newsmagazine, Morning People. |
